Embrace the Circular Economy

Circular Economy:

/ˈsəːkjʊlə/ /ɪˈkɒnəmi/:

An economic system aimed at eliminating waste and the continual use of resources.  Circular systems employ reuse, sharing, repair, refurbishment, remanufacturing and recycling to create a close-loop system, minimising the use of resource inputs and the creation of waste, pollution and carbon emissions.

I don’t pretend that everything we do is without waste, but it is the goal & the direction we will always strive. We have a vision to close the loop in the circular economy as much as possible, and offset where we can not. Programs like ASPIRE help us in the journey, by enabling businesses to connect and enable material resource exchange to reduce waste, reduce CO2 emissions & create greater value in the circular-economy.

Being an upholsterer, or perhaps I should say, a re-upholsterer; I like to think that I can be another important link in that circle. My warehouse has become a home for lost-furniture, patiently waiting for their turn to shine.

This set of dining chairs came to me, not first, not second, perhaps third or most likely beyond. As another link in the chain.

In Moorabbin-land, the awesome @mr_dakdak relinquished this absolutely stunning set of mid-century dining chairs after the well intentioned restoration project was deprioritised by life (we’ve all been there!). With a nod & a wink they were ours, their new (interim) custodians.

There may have been a spiced rum involved.

As fate would had it (& some tight community chit-chat), some months later, a “drop in” on recommendation from the local @mr_dakdak joined me for a wander around the tightly packed warehouse. Almost in a beaver line, unbeknownst, @simonshiffsays was drawn to the chairs of his referrer.

So with a nod & a wink (and a shared vision to restore to their former journey), they had found their next custodian.

In return, our new Moorabbin-local compadre has splashed his ninja photo-snap skills in helping our humble business float to the top of social-media land.

I like to think stories like these gravitate to us, simply by never losing sight of our values; sustainability, artistry & connectivity.

I’m proud to have done my bit to ensure these chairs not only survive, but thrive for decades more;

Our chapter of this story is not the first, but more importantly, it is not the last.

Do reach out if you like what you see, we’d be happy to let you know what we have in stock; furniture looking for a new home.
