Our Inner Soul

You’d perhaps expect it to be easy; to inner-gaze and hone in what is important to you.  I envy anyone who has that ability on demand.  But for me it was difficult to even pause, pause life for enough time to pull down my guard and look inwards.

The incarnation of Eclectic Boogaloo forced me to do just that, to stop and to think, write down, iterate, rub out, think some more and rewrite what is important to me, and for my alter-ego, Eclectic Boogaloo.

Four years ago, I somehow managed to dwindle my inner wrestling down to three simple, yet powerful words, call it my ethos.. my values.. my message to you… and… my message to me.

Sustainability, Artistry and Connectivity.

I’m proud to say that these three words are as relevant to me today as when I first pulled them out of my soul

Sustainability is a message that drives our daily decisions, obvious things such as working with vintage furniture, textiles and homewares.  But it is also more than that, it helps us drive decisions on how we work, how we behave and who we work with.  In the days of climate change denial, political maneuvering & unaccountability; we have to work harder than ever.  We don’t pretend to be perfect, but we do promise to try our best.

For us, Artistry is also a core value.  We do love beautiful things and we especially love beautiful things that have been lovingly created by people who love what they do.  We love art of all description, colour, style, medium and interpretation; and solemnly believe that an artist can have a profound effect on your life.

Which brings us to Connectivity; this is where it all comes together.  It’s about the meaning, it’s about the relationships, it’s understanding that being surrounded by beautiful things is secondary to knowing it’s story, it’s origins and forming a true connection with the people who share it’s history.  There is more to stuff than stuff.
