Our roadmap of course

I miss this.

It seems a century ago that we opened up our warehouse for our first ever “Chair & Cheese” upholstery course way back in our pre-COVID lifestyle in January.

Hugs, kisses, shared cheese boards and heaven-forbid, inching closer than 1.5 meters was taken for granted.

Masks, well, we had them already, but for other practicalities.

With the Victorian Government laying out the roadmap to reopening, we wanted to share how we fit into this roadmap, how this can work for us & our mission in saving the world, one chair at a time.

First, some background.

Our last (run) course was back in the days of June. COVID cases were single figures per day, and life had pretty much returned to normal-ish. Course places had booked out through July to September, and our dates through till the end of the year had just been laid out.

The shuffling began. July was pushed to August, then September. August was shuffled, and reshuffled, and then landed on October. September cantered to October. And October, our inaugural “Chair Amnesty” upholstery course steadfastly remained in October. Meanwhile, November & December sold out before I’d even reshuffled July.

Now, with the latest roadmap updates, our courses are in the process of being reshuffled, hopefully one last time to commence after 26th of October. In line with the Metropolitan third step for creative studios with classes, onsite learning allowed with density quotients and safety measure in place; subject to trigger points and public health advice.

The sliding-tile-puzzle of course dates, although arduous, has been overwhelmingly more humbling. All of our students have been understanding and patient; not a single student flickered even a hint of quite-understandable annoyance.

And for that, I sincerely I thank you.

As I finalise the reshuffling of the new dates, I hope to be able to release a few extra places for this side of Christmas. For anyone on the waiting list, I will be making contact directly with you soon, and then if there are still any places left, I will be releasing them on our website.

We will be holding off publicising any 2021 courses until later in the year, in the mean time, you are certainly welcome to provide an expressions of interest for 2021 courses; just shoot me message.

I’m really looking forward to sharing my skills & soaking up the hum of activity back into my silent warehouse!
